The Brooklyn Heights Waterfront will take your breath away. It is one of the most popular spot for the Tourist and romantic place for dates, wedding proposals and anniversary celebrations. The waterfront walkway is almost half a mile long, it offers a wonderful view of the Statue of Liberty, the manhattan skyline, the majestic Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan bridge. You will be thrilled to see all the East River activities going on day and night. The view of downtown skyline is equally spectacular day or night.
If you are in Manhattan it's really easy to cross over to the other side of the East River to get to Brooklyn Heights. I have taken a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge, got off at Fulton Street. As soon as you are in Fulton no way in the world you could miss it. The best access to Brooklyn bridge walkway is from Chambers Street or from Park Row. Bicycle is also allowed over the bridge so that is also another alternative to Taxi and private car. I have posted few pictures which will give you some idea about the Promenade but nothing close to actual experience.
It was from Brooklyn Heights that George Washington watched the Battle of Brooklyn unfold into a terrible defeat for the young Colonial Army. Under the cover of darkness on August 29th, Washington's army crossed the East River from Fulton Ferry, below where the Brooklyn Bridge rises today, leaving Brooklyn to the British.
