Bronze Calf Oct 20, 2017
The life size bronze sculpture of a Friesian calf looks like he has just stood up on wobbly legs for the first time, his coat still wet and matted from being born. The sculpture is the work of Sally Arnup a leading animal sculptor who lives just outside York.

Sally Arnup models in clay, from which the moulds are taken, for the traditional lost wax process of casting into bronze. When the pieces return from the foundry, they are intricately detailed but the finish is dull and they are finished and patinated by hand, with wet and dry paper.

The nearest Car Park (Marygate) is just a five minute walk away (YO30 7DT) and has 350 spaces.
