Christmas 365 days a year...literally. Oct 01, 2009
If you hate Christmas you may want to skip visiting here as the whole area around the store is decorated like it's Christmas year round. If you don't like crowds you may want to skip it as it gets pretty crowded because it's a tourist spot. However, if you like Christmas it's definitely a place that you have to visit. It's like what you would imagine the North Pole or Santa's Workshop minus the adults.

It can be a bit intimidating upon first glance as the store is the size of a huge warehouse and is jam-packed with fake Christmas trees decorated with tons of decorations, nativity sets and other Christmas trinkets. My suggestion would just be to dive in head first and you're bound to find something that you want.

Like the name of the store states, it does pride itself on being a religious store, but there is plenty for people who aren't really big on religion. They have tons, and I mean TONS of beautiful and wacky Christmas ornaments (from pickles and peanuts to gorgeous glass swans and trees), lights (shamrocks and spider lights to name a few) and other random things that can be great for stocking stuffers and secret santa gifts.

There is a section for other American holidays (4th of July, Halloween, St. Patrick's day, etc) where they have lights and decorations but it's in an area cornered off and to the side. I had a difficult time finding it on my visit, but it may have been because I was a bit taken aback by the whole Christmas atmosphere.

I would suggest blocking off a couple of hours to spend there as it IS pretty big and there is a lot to see. And if you get hungry, you can hit up the Bavarian Inn (Oma's Restaurant) which is nearby and known for their fried chicken and generous portions.
