Bristol Hotel Gibraltar Reviews
A One Night Stand Aug 16, 2009
Last of the hotels on this trip, and definately not a case of saving the best to last.
Had read some bad reviews of this place before we went, and won't disagree with them, but we went for the location being that we were only staying the one night.
Walking distance from the border, and back to the airport following morning, along the main street. Situated just off it.
Receptionist gave the impression he couldn't give two hoots if you were going to stay or not. Rooms were on various sub levels and not easy to find. Lift couldn't accomodate four people with luggage, and we were travelling light.
Very dated decor, but at least had a fridge and air conditioning. The air con though was a small portable unit, and looked like a little Dalek for those that know Doctor Who :-).
A real air of neglect about the place, which is a pity as it does have the potential to be so much more.
They don't like you taking your room key out and have a very effective way to make sure you don't :-D
Found out later that it did have a swimming pool, but the receptionist never bothered informing us of that. To hacked off at us disturbing him reading his paper no doubt.
For those that did breakfast I am reliably informed that the best description for it was disgusting. There weren't even tables set out.
A real dump of a hotel, but if you are only needing a place to crash for a night it will do for that. You aren't going to want to spend much time in it anyway
