We visited Geneva only for a one night stopover. Driving and searching for a place you don´t know is never advisable. Specially when you arrive at a time when the whole town has gone crazy. We seemed to have picked the one day in the year when Geneva has it´s own Techno Parade. Thousands of people, dressed in the strangest assortment of clothing...or lack of it.
After a 546 km drive, coming from Chateau Versailles, we were relieved to find the hotel room isolated enough to keep the techno music out of our room. Service was good. Although we were surprised that the parking was behind the train station, a 100m walk. With all those people dancing in the street, we were not convinced of the safety of that parking. The hotel has a perfect location, near the Lake Geneva and downtown. Our rooms were large with comfortable beds. Bathrooms included all the usual toiletries and also bathrobes and slippers. We booked breakfast and were not disappointed. Although there are lots of places to eat in close proximity to the hotel, the breakfast in the hotel provides with fruit salad, yoghurt, bread, jams and marmalade and coffee, cereals, meats and cheese. The piano bar had a relaxing atmosphere with comfortable leahter chairs. It seemed the resident harpist player had a day of. Maybe the techno music had something to do with that. If you are passing through Geneva, you´ll want to visit any of the following places: • Geneva’s lakefront, 50 m • Water fountain, 479 m (left of the hotel) • Flower Clock, 479 m (no the other way!) • Saint Peter's Cathedral • Reformation Wall • Place Neuve • United Nations Building • Place du Bourg-de-Four • Carouge Part of the Italy, 2005 travel blog
