Brighton, CO is the county seat of Adams County, Colorado and is located about 20 miles northeast of Denver, CO. Colorodo State Highway 7 (Bridge Street) bisects the city seperating north from south. That state highway connects to I-25 west of the city and I-76 East of the city.

There are no major tourist sites in or near Brighton, and only local history museums nearby. Brighton is serviced by several major chain hotels and a couple of locally owned ones. The city is distinctive for it's Mexican restarants, which there are a dozen scattered throughout the town.

Brighton is generally too distant to be used as a jumping off point for Colorado attractions. You would be better served to find a hotel closer and save the drive time. However, as it does have good highway access, should the Denver area hotels be full due a very major (Democratic Convention comes to mind), Brighton is still only about 30-35 minutes from downtown Denver

Here are a few pictures of Brighton, CO. There is nothing to see in Brighton to bring a tourist in, unless you are very interested in the local history. This is a quiet community with no major crime, but close enough to Denver to enjoy the big city. Don't move here, we are large enough already.

I wasn’t overly worried about today. New water pump. I had checked everywhere for leaks. Full radiator and new gauges to monitor the situation. Cortez is situated in the mountains of western Colorado, in a valley. So for the next five hours, until we reached Walsenburg, it would be one climb followed by a descent after another. The toughest one we would face would be Wolf Creek Pass, just past the town of Pagosa Springs. The pass sits at an elevation of 10,823 feet, and its crest is right o...

Prologue   I had been planning to go to Chicago for our family vacation this year. But Margo pointed out, that we just spent our family vacation visiting my side of the family, in a quest to visit them all one more time before they passed away. She also had family, her Great Aunt Murrel, who she really wanted to see again. Aunt Murrell lived in Amarillo, TX. Not a bad little city, but not exactly a tourist destination either. Still Margo had a very valid point. We had been trying to ge...

Right after we got out of the stagecoach we got in our car and headed north to link up with I-70. We had six hours of driving plus stops before we got home. We stopped in Burlington, CO for dinner. From there it was it was straight home. We had planned to be home about 6:30 PM, but we were two hours late leaving Dodge City. We didn't care. It was still light when we got home. It was a very enjoyable trip. There were a few hiccups and inconviences, but nothing that came close to spoiling the...
