Spending an afternnon on the per Mar 21, 2012
The pier is an iconic part of Brighton's bustling seafront landscape. Whilst best to enjoy on a sunny day with little to no breeze, it is easy to spend a long afternoon on the pier. There are plenty of things to do from amusement arcade/casino type games to enjoying the rides which are many and varied towards the end of the promonade.

There's a roller coaster, log flumes, haunted house to name a few. The rides aren't free but are inexpensive and you pay for these by way of tokens which you get from vending machines and booths dotted around. In addition there are sweet shops, henna tattooing, fair ground type games and a fortune teller for those that fancy something a little different.

The pier also boasts 2 pubs and a late night karaoke bar. A good way to spend a couple of hours with friends would be enjoying a pint outside Victoria's bar on the decking taking in some of the best views of Brighton's coastline. They also occasionally show sport on the screens inside and do serve food but the choice is limited.

The pier also has many fast/junk food stands at the entrance serving things like crepes, hot dogs and ice cream. There is a fish and chip restaurant next to Victoria's bar on the pier with reasonable food to eat in or take away but the prices are very high for what it is and there is better fish and chips to be found in Brighton for less. At the end of the pier are more fast food stalls this time selling quick Chinese and curry type dishes and there are burger bars within the amusement dome near the rides.

The pier is great for those wanting to have a family day out or someone wanting to experience some of the best views of Brighton sharing a jug of pims or a few beers in the sun. It would also be a good place to take a date for a cheesy but good time as the rides will always provide entertainment and conversation. Bear in mind though with the exception of the views nothing on the pier is free.
