"Train" - Brick Train Jul 19, 2015
The sculpture called "Train", better known as the "Brick Train" was placed here in 1997 as a monument to Darlington's railway heritage. Close to this spot, the first commercial passenger railway line, the Stockton and Darlington Railway, went along. The sculpture depicts a 1936 A4 class engine and is made out of more than 180 000 bricks. There is a viewing platform which allows you to see the sculpture from above.

The sculpture is located in the rear part of Morton Park, the commercial park in the East of Darlington, right behind Morrisons. There is a small river and a walking path between it and the A66 motorway. This path will also lead you to the sculpture but may be a little confusing as it crosses the river several times. Close to the big junction, there is one of those fences where you have to climb some steps, which are usually put there to protect wildlife. It just leads you to the said walking path and I don't think that there are any larger animals living in Morton Park...
