See a Show Without the Kids Apr 08, 2017
The Brewery Follies is a live action show with lots of musical numbers, comedy sketches, and lots of fun cabaret style. The comedy includes social and political satire and can get rather risqué so parental guidance is highly suggested and you may want to leave the kids at home; but they are not banned. Your choice. It does not get too risqué, however, there is no nudity and no strong profanity. While enjoying the show you can also enjoy a cold Montana microbrew, a soda or other beverage. The Follies are located in the old Gilbert Brewery Building which was completed in 1863 and was the first brewery in Montana. Gilbert Beer was very popular right up until prohibition when it was no longer made. The building underwent lots of expansion, other buildings were added and the building was reinforced by the Boveys; but its outward appearance is little changed since 1863. The original willow trees also enhance the park like beauty of the brewery area. I met the guy who runs this and he is a great guy. He also drives the engine on the train between Virginia City and Nevada City sometimes, and performs many other "duties" in this small town. In towns this small it is common for many of its residents to have multiple "jobs". The season is Memorial Day through the end of September. Matinees at 4 PM and Evening Shows at 8 PM. Admission is $18 (subject to change). Make sure you check this out when in Virginia City!
