Bremerhaven Overview

Bremerhaven is a port city in Northern Germany with 108,000 inhabitants. It is famous for its industrial facilities, but it also offers some tourist sights, e.g. the Zoo, the German Shipping Museum, the German Emigration Center or the Fish Market (Schaufenster Fischereihafen). Most sights are located within walking distance.

Bremerhaven was founded in 1827 as deepwater port. Since its foundation, it belonged to the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen. In 1939, it was amalgamated with nearby cities Geestemünde and Lehe.
