Breezand Overview

Breezand is a village in the municipality Anna Paulowna in the Dutch province Noord-Holland. Breezand lays central in the Anna Paulownapolder, which form an important horticulture area.
Queen Anna Paulowna was the name donor of the polder. Anna Paulowna was the daughter of tsar Paul I of Russia. She was married from 1840 - up to 1849 with king Willem II (king of the Netherlands).
Breezand was firstly not much worth and drew just a few people, until a group of people decided to grow bulbs on the loose sand ground. It was a hit. Then that started the village grew steadily. It has inhabitants now approximately 3500 and grows still.
