Breakwater Lodge

Breakwater Lodge is situated at the Waterfront area of Capetown. It's cheaper than most of the other hotels in that location. Plus there is or there used to be cooking facilities as well as a restaurant and cafe. The rooms were small but adequate. They weren't ensuite but you shared facilities with just one other person. There were lockers and safes available for secure storage. I just used a room as there are plenty of places to eat round about. I wouldn't wander round Capetown itself by myself on an evening but the Waterfront felt much safer. There was plenty to see and do - shops, crafts, boat trips etc - plus easy access to trips along the coast. Capetown itself is only a short bus hop away.
I wouldn't say it feels like 'Africa', but if you have been roughing it, The Waterfront is a great place to recharge your batteries.
