Brasserie - Restaurant De Carré Brugge Reviews
Impersonal and overprized Aug 02, 2011
Because Brasserie - Restaurant De Carré was very centrally located right on the market square, close to our hotel and seemed to have a fairly good menu, we decided to have our dinner here.
We were seated on the terrace and our drinks came quickly. Our order was taken and brought to us fast as well, but the waiters and waitresses did not seem excited about their work and didn't smile once. And although we spoke to them in Dutch, they kept replying in English. It is understandble that serving tourists may become very routine, but a smile or friendly word here and there wouldn't hurt anybody.
The simple pot roast which I had was tasty, but with €18 overprized. The chicken my friend had was dry and didn't taste special. That dish also cost €18.
So, although the location seems great, this is in fact a typical tourist trap: the price is too high for the quality you get, the service is impersonal and the atmosphere feels very rushed.
