Brasserie Léopold Aix-en-Provence Reviews
Not a gourmet restaurant, but also not a tourist trap Apr 16, 2012
Ideally located just steps from the Rotunda and the Cours Mirabeau, quite early in the Avenue Victor Hugo, very close to the cinema and parking Cezanne Mignet, this restaurant appears as a good choice for spending time with friends on a sunny day. The atmosphere is lively, even a little bit noisy, but homely. Reservations recommended. The prices are decent, i.e. not too high.
30 minutes waiting to be served, a derogatory staff who admits neither a lack of efficiency (in contesting the waiting time) nor mistakes (something was ordered and something else was served). I was told I should have a reservation as for that time of the day (lunch time) the restaurant is always overcrowded.
Servers are waving in all directions and it takes 3 times to ask what to bring you, bread or water! Food wasn`t special, just okay, in fact the grilled meal was a bit overcooked! On the other hand, the dessert was super!:)
This restaurant is certainly not a gourmet restaurant, but also not a tourist trap. If you are in a good mood (as I was:) the waiting time will not disturb you too much as you are sitting at the outside terrace with friends and have a drink and a nice chat until the food is served.
If service would be just a little bit improved, this place would be for sure a good choice for a pleasant lunch.
