Oh my goshness, I can't believe how many guys here actually fancies me. On the train to Brasov from Bucharest a group of students were all over me and one guy (or boy, barely 17 i think) obviously has this humongous crush on me. I appreciate his effort asking for help from his classmates in trying to tell me I have a charming smile and it really was just so sweet. He's so cute by the way, I changed my mind about Romania immediately as I have found out I have some chances of finding a husband ...

Yesterday was my three castle tour day in Rasnov, Bran and Sinaia. It didn't start out the best as the weather was chilly and overcast, and I discovered someone stole two pairs of my socks from the laundry.  At least no one took my Bob Marley t-shirt. The tour was great.  The day was fun.  We first hit up Rasnov, which has a castle that was built by the peasants there to fend off attackers.  The worst part was they could not access water up there, which lef...

My last day in Brasov, and then an overnight train ride to Budapest.  It was a very relaxed day, I spent a few hours in the "lounge" area at the hostel.  Also did one last walk around Brasov, or at least the areas I got to know in the past few days. I stopped to eat dinner at a restaurant a few blocks from the Black Church.  While eating, a "rogue" wind blew through from out of the blue, knocking over all sorts of things & breaking drink glasses.  There were...

There is this little spot up in the Northern part of Romania just south of the border to Ukraine which is famous for some painted monasteries. I actually really want to go but as it is far from where I am now it will involve a very long journey to get there and an equally long journey to get back to Bucharest - is this really worth it?                          &...

We were staying at the medival Brasov,in a hostel of course. The old town seems endless,so many to see and shoot with your camera !!! Dear readers,Today I've done a nice tourist trip to Rasnov, Bran, and Sinaia. It has been really beautifull. Rasnov is a nice old fortres. It's not very big, but you can have a nice time around there, especialy if you're with a group, as I was. Bran is too touristical, and overcrowded. Sinaia is a beautifull city. You can visit the casttle of the kings of Romania and have a tour with a guide for little money. I think I will write more about each location when I upload the pictures. That can t...

Mangalia, Romania -› Romania -› ...
Oki, so I admit it. I did not meet Mr. Dracula in Romania. But I have still a lot to tell. Yesterday we left Mangalia and tried to figure out what to do other than relaxing at the beach. We ended up taking a microbus (=crowded Romanian mini-bus) to Constanta. There we went to the train station and bought a 1. class ticket to Brasov in the mountain. We really wanted to see the so called Dracula castle in Bran. We waited and waited for the train, and when it came we found our seats on 1. cl...

Romanian Christmas

Celebrate ‘Ignatius’ on 20th December (5 days before Christmas day) by killing a pig in the honor of Saint Ignatius. Burn straws in its snout and hold its funeral and invite your family and friends to the feast. You may serve bacon and small pieces of fried pork and give them wine or plum brandy to drink. Christmas carols are one of the best-known winter traditions in Romania. So, in true Romanian fashion, on Christmas eve, go from house to house, wishing health, happiness and fortune...

So after flying and sitting in airports for 24 hours, i arrived into bucharest.  the city has a very grey feeling to it, and after seeing the mandatory sights, grilling up a lot of meat, and playing a new drinking game with 4 crazy brits, i was off to Brasov.  Brasov is a cool city, big square, nice people.  The first night i was the only one in the hostel...but then it filled up.  I met this Federal marshall from brazil, who ran a team of special agents in the northern ...
