Brahmavira Arama Buddhist Monastery Bali
Brahmavira Arama Buddhist Monastery Bali Reviews
The only one Buddhist Monastery in Banjar,North BALI Apr 03, 2007
Located in North Bali, about 10 km South West of Lovina, built in 1970,the Buddhist Monastery of Banjar ,the only one in Bali,is a terraced temple complex, nestled in the mountains, with stunning sea and ricefields views, and beautiful grounds.
The Monastery is not a tourist attraction but it accepts respectful tourists;entrance is free, wearing a sarong is obligatory but if you have none, you can borrow one for free too,but a donation is expected.People can participate there at meditation cessions.
There are 2 Naga statues at the entrance and a kulkul(Balinese wooden slit gong) tower in the courtyard.
In the different levels are golden Stupas and Buddhas, lovely Balinese woodcarvings, praying rooms.
On the higher level ,people can find a mini Borobodur with 5 Stupas and Buddha's statues in various poses, like in Java.
Not far to the West of the Monastery,at 10 minute walk are Banjar hot springs(air panas) and Pedewa,a Bali Aga village.
