Braga Portugal Feb 03, 2017
Braga is in north Portugal, near the Spanish border, which i found difficult to cross by train, my train did not run..In Braga i stayed at the Ibis Hotel Rue Do Carmo 38. This is a interesting town.Known as the Portuguese Rome. The Liberade is a large open square with a fountain, that as dancing water.-- Santa Crux is a 17th century church in the centre of Braga, the front is intricate stone rococo work.Inside is a high nave, with gold carvings on the organ and pulpit.--Cathedral Santa Maria was started in the 11th century.--Bom Jesus Do Monte Sanctuary is about 15 minutes bus ride.It is on a hill in a lovely setting. The bus arrives at the funicular to go to the top,the funicular is run by water power. The top car is filled with water, and the weight pulls the bottom car up.There are 4 hotels on the hill top.
