Bradford Canal Apr 24, 2017
The canal opened in 1774 and started at Shipley, from the junction of the Leeds and Liverpool Canal, and finished in Bradford. The canal was approximately 3.5 miles in length and originally shipped stone and limestone for the number of nearby kilns Bradford Lime Kiln Company owned.

The canal had a number of difficulties including it being a Public Health hazard and mismanagement which lead to its permanent closure in 1922. The canal is unnavigable has been in filled though the first 40 yards or so is in water. There are plans for the canal to be restored which remains to be seen.
