An extraordinary visual experience!
The Bourbaki Panorama is witness to 19th century audiences` of appetites for visual sensations. The huge circular painting by Edouard Castres, which dates from 1881, is one of the most visually arresting works in the history of the media: It is a visual sensation of the time before the cinema. It is at once a stirring denouncement of war, and a moving testimonial to man`s capacity for humanitarian actions.
