Boulder Vacation Guide
Boulder is a beautiful picture postcard of CO. It sits in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains about 30 miles northwest of Denver on Hwy 36. Boulder has over 300 day of sunshine a year. It is the home of the University of Colorado’s main campus. Boulder has the only accredited Buddhist–inspired university: the Naropa University.
The city sits at over 5000' above sea level and has a greenbelt that loops the city. Boulder is a place for the outdoor enthusiast with many hiking and bike trails. The impressive drive up Baseline Road takes you to Lookout Mountain. This place is a favorite for the young and the old. It is a steep and winding road with bicyclists touring it at all hours of the day. There is a well maintained picnic area, a first class restaurant, great hiking trails and impressive views of the city and surrounding area. You can even see Denver from there.
Pearl Street Mall is a beautiful walking Mall which gives you the opportunity to experience the variety Boulder has to offer in its quaint shops and good restaurants. Boulder boasts that they “walk the talk” when it comes to alternative transportation. You can drive but many prefer to walk or ride bikes.
Looking West from anywhere in the city, you will see the National Center for Atmospheric Research. It does just what its name says: research.
Boulder has a very nice downtown with parks and tree lined streets, many festivals and activities take place year round.
