We left our hotel - The Residence Inn Marriott hotel at about nine thirty in the morning. Apparently my colleague Maria is an early riser, she was up at 5:00 am watching TV at the lowest of volumes. I was the designated driver for the day so I decided we needed everything we could get to make our road trip interesting as well as comfortable. The heat alone made me think of ice, cold water cold coca-cola, cold orange COLD foods and everything COLD, lol!
We left the hotel and tended north on ...

It was a perfect day to come here. it was on a week day and in the morning. it is one of the routes to go to arizona. Hoover Dam, also known as Boulder Dam, is a concrete gravity-arch dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the U.S. states of Arizona and Nevada. The dam, located 30 miles (48 km) southeast of Las Vegas. Construction began in 1931 and was completed in 1935, over two years ahead of schedule. The dam and the power plant are operated by the Bureau of R...

Our first day on the road after leaving Las Vegas found us checking out Hoover Dam and the huge Lake Mead NRA. I expected the dam to be much more industrial, just a plain concrete plug in the
river and was pleasantly surprised by the elegance of the construction itself
and the artwork on and surrounding it.So here are the facts and figures:Construction on Hoover Dam was started in 1931 and it was completed in 1935,
ahead of schedule (imagine that!). At the time, a dam of this size was

Another day away from Las Vegas…with Hoover Dam the primary target this time. An easy drive to get there from Vegas…I’m guessing a good hour, but we ate at a pleasant Mexican restaurant in Boulder City and the interruption might throw off my estimate. We started ascending as we exited Boulder City (a town created by the construction of the dam) and were presented with a majestic panorama of Lake Mead as we rounded a tight bend. Lake Mead is enormous, and I’ll...

Over the weekend of March 28, myself and several friends attended the 2008 Red Rock Rendezvous in Vegas. Some of us camped at the event and others got hotels (I camped obvioulsy) but we all had an amazing time. I was able to lead a sport climbing route for the first time and demo'd some very high-end Specialized mountain bikes. Even had the chance to check out Hoover Dam before catching our flight home. (the photos read like a journal)

Las Vegas was 114 degrees as we left for Boulder City NV to see Hoover Dam; HOTTT! Desert for 30 miles to Boulder.
After Hoover Dam more desert for 90 miles to Kingman AZ and 115 miles to Williams AZ; finally got relief near Willams. Temperature dropped 50 degrees to 64 & it rained. Stayed in Williams with plans to visit Grand Canyon tomorrow. Kingman and Williams are part of Route 66, "The Mother Road"; both towns make effort to highlight their historical past.

Loved Las Vegas, I would love to go again and again. Would be a great time to go with group of family and/or friends. I have been here 2 times. both with groups of friends, what a blast! I have stayed at the Bellagio and the Flamingo. For the little bit of time you spend in your room, I would recommend getting a less expensive hotel, unless money is not an option. I am not a big gambler, so if you think vegas is not for you because you don't gamble, don't worry~ there is so much more to do:)
