Bou Inania Medersa Meknes Reviews
Great visit for architecture Nov 18, 2010
The entrance fee was 10 dirhams, which is very cheap considering the historic significance of the place.
Located in the centre of the medina and very near the great mosque, the Bou Inania Medersa dates back from the medieval period. The domes are very beautiful to look at and are ribbed in the most unusual shape. the lanterns were very ornate too, but instead of being lit with a candles, these were disappointingly lighted by an energy-saving bulb!
The entrance hall is very nice to walk through and the walls are covered with the most beautiful tile work. Again, it was disappointing to see these original fountains which were without water so you could see them in their full glory.
The upstairs part of the Bou Inania Medersa is well worth a visit. The rooms afford great views of the entrance hall. If you go up onto the roof, you get nice views of Meknes and can also see the great mosque too.
If you are in Meknes for just a day, visiting the Bou Inania Medersa has to be on your to do list for sure.
