Botanical Garden - The Tropical Greenhouse Feb 14, 2017
The Tropical Greenhouse in the Botanical Garden is open the whole year round. During the summer months it is open every day and the rest of the year it is closed on Mondays. Admission is SEK 50 (2016).

Most plants in the Tropical Greenhouse are from the rainforest, but there are also many plants from the desert. Example of plants you can see here are orchids, palm trees, banana tree, the traveler’s tree, cocoa tree, sacred lotus and much more.

One famous plant they have is the Victoria amazonica, the largest water lily in the world. Once a year it blooms for a few days, and as the flower usually doesn’t open up during the light hours of the day, the greenhouse extends it opening hours, so that people can come and see it bloom in the evening.

I think it is nice to come here and see plants I have seen in their natural environment when visiting tropical countries. And is a great place to go to during winter, to escape from the cold climate for a while.
