Day 1 - Annapolis to Baltimore to Boston

Part 2 - Baltimore to Boston   The flight to Boston was very nice and smooth. We saw NYC from 32,000 ft. and I tried to take some pictures, but they didn’t turn out too well. Landed in Boston, got our luggage, and found our way to the international terminal. After checking in at the Iceland Air counter, we went to their Saga Class lounge and had some free sandwiches and drinks. We are flying 1st class or business class, (Iceland Air calls it Saga Class) free, round trip because of a ...

A day in Boston
posted by:

I had flown into Boston the day before but had no time to sightsee.  I was there on business but gave myself one day to see this historic town.  I had booked a hotel up in Andover, MA, which put me close to where I was working.  I asked the receptionist at the hotel the best way to get into Boston in the morning, and he told me to head south and then take the subway into the city, as to avoid traffic and parking and the nightmare I had experienced the day before trying to drive...

On Sunday we decided to take the train into Boston which was great since I have never been on a commuter train and have NO commuter train ediquette (how do you spell ediquette????), which was quickly brought to my attention when I played my McDonalds porn clip on my phone much to the dismay of the man sitting behind me.  It was far too quiet and serious on the train in my opinion an opinion that was shared by Kerry I might add.      &nb...

The next day we found our way back on the train to go back to Boston.  We get off...go check into the Bulfinch Hotel and head down to Fenway Park!  We get to Fenway and get our tickets to see the tour and off we went...it was sort of sad there weren't any Yankee Fans there...it  would've been fun to listen to the bickering.  When we started the tour the ballpark was getting some remodeling and upgrading done.  So needless to say some things were left out...like going ...

From New York, we took a train to Boston. It was here we found HI Hostels, which are brilliant value for money. The place we stayed at was very sociable and oganised a night out for everyone in the hostel. the next day, after the hangover had worn off, we went for a walk around the Freedom Trail. This is ok if like a lot of history, but for us we were a bit done in after the night before. We eventually got to the U.S.S. Constitution in time for a huge storm, and so were trapped in a corner of...

Rained off at Fenway!

Last year I celebrated my 21st birthday while living in Boston. As an Irish guy, I've been used to drinking legally since I was 18 (and illegally for a few years before that!), and one of the hardest things to cope with was the stupid law in the U.S. that you have to be 21 to drink alcohol, and consequently, get into pubs and clubs. Add to that the fact that the Boston area is notoriously strict on ID checks, and the result was me feeling like I was 17 again! Sure, we had a few places where w...

We spent a week eating oysters, smoking cigars, drinking scotch and wandering the North End. We had lovely meals on a few occasions not to mention the epic meal we had at Morton's on the Waterfront with 3 magnum bottles of Silver Oak 2003 Cabernet. We also found a great cigar bar called Stanza dei Sigari. While in the North En...

This morning we focused on Paul Revere.  We spent some time in Old North Church (I was startled by how high the boxes around the pews were, new experience for me.)  Being Methodist, I was excited to discover that Charles Wesley had preached here.  I was amused by the fact that the cherubs decorating the organ were legally stolen from a French ship several centuries back.  Walking around the leafy Paul Revere Mall gave us a nice respite from a busy city feeling. The aftern...

Friday was my sight seeing day. I was told the best way to go is along the Freedom Trail. The Freedom Trail is a red line on the sidewalk connecting 16 historic sites in Boston. Luckily a friend of mine, who lives in Boston, was able to show me around. Many thanks again, Cliff!!! In the photos you'll see all the sites we passed including some captions to explain everything a little bit. It was a fantastic day and after strolling throughout  the city we ended up in one of my favourite pla...

I really enjoy writing about my travels and I hope at least somebody will enjoy reading about my travels...even if its just my parents. :)

My flight got in to Logan's Airport around midnight. My friend flew from D.C. and got there around the same time. We took a cab to the South End(Prudential Center) and it took us about 20 min and we paid $30. By the time we all got there and got ready it was about 1:00 or  2:00am. We went out trying to find a nearby place but all places were closed. We asked some cab drivers and said it was too late to go to the area where the clubs are(i forgot he name). We decided to stay in the r...
