Borneo Nature Adventure Nov 15, 2010
If you're a hard core adventure freak and wish to see something more than just nature, Borneo is that place where you should be. I went on a Borneo Tour recently. Here's a glimpse into my guided tour of 3 days. Take a look;
Day 1: Padas White water rafting/Beach Lodge-
At 7.30 hrs- depart to Beaufort which is an approximately a 1.5 hour drive. From there take the last train of Borneo which is the starting point. Get prepared for an ultimate white water rafting session with experienced guides. After the adventurous session, you can enjoy lunch and admire the breathtaking scenery of Borneo at BUSAT base camp after an exhilarating raft down the Padas River.
Day 2: Beach Lodge/Pulau Tiga- By 9.30 hours assemble at PTR’s jetty in Kuala Penyu for boat passenger registration. By 10.00 hours, board PTR’s boat 30 minutes boat ride to the island. Have lunch at the Survivor Bar and experience the real deal mud volcano mud facial and body mask! On the island, take a 20 minute boat ride to Snake Island to catch a glimpse of sea kraits in their natural habitat. Enjoy a lazy afternoon with beach activities like swimming, snorkeling, or just hanging out and appreciating views from hammocks in trees beside the white sands.
Day 3: Pulau Tiga/Klias River Cruise/KK- Free at your own leisure in Pulau Tiga until checkout time at 1400 hours. Take a boat ride back to Kuala Penyu and drive to Klias jetty. Opt for a relaxing two hour river cruise in this red river surrounded by mangrove trees. Here you can catch a glimpse of the proboscis monkey perched on trees feeding on young leaves, shoots sour fruits and seeds. If lucky you can also spot the Macaque monkey, the rare silver languor and Water Buffalo crossing the river. On your way river cruising, have a sumptuous BBQ dinner served in buffet style. Take a short walk towards the swamp area and watch a mystery unfold with a million fireflies decorating the mangrove trees. After 10-15 minutes of admiring fireflies, now comes the time to head for Kota Kinabalu.
