Makes you feel completely at home Jan 17, 2011
(Based on my experience in Dec 2008)

To be honest, other than its amazing Mt Kinabalu, Kota Kinabalu is not the most exciting place. But Borneo Backpackers made me feel very at home and made the trip very enjoyable.

Although showers are communal, they're rather clean and well-equipped. Rooms and beds are comfortable, as long as you don't go there expecting a five-star hotel. The living room is a great and homely place to hang out and get to know people as well. The staff there are very hospitable and will give you all the help and travel advice u need, within their capacity. I think they can help you to plan trips to the islands for sea sports too (not sure).

I'd definitely recommend this place - the value u get is much more than what u pay. Not forgetting to mention, the little coffee house at its ground floor serves very, very good toasts with kaya (coconut jam)! Probably the best I've ever had.

I don't have photos, but u may check it out here: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g298307-d597240-Reviews-Borneo_Backpackers-Kota_Kinabalu_Sabah.html

Suppose to be good Jun 29, 2010
They have most everything going for them to make a good location, bbuuutt the beds in the dorm that I was staying in were gross. They really looked like they were infested with bedbugs. Other than that great staff, good everything else.
