Borgarnes Vacation Guide
A small town of about 2000 inhabitants, Borgarnes is situated on a small peninsula in Borgarfjörður. It is located about 70 km west of Reykjavik and it is connected to Iceland's ringroad through the second largest bridge in Iceland, Borgarfjarðarbrú.
Borgarnes was first mentioned in Egil's saga where it was actually called Digranes. Today, many places related to Egil's saga are to be found in the town an its surroundings, such as the island Brakarey, the Brakar strait ,some street names as: Skallagrímsgata, Kvedúlfsgata, Böđvarsgata and Egilsgata and also a park where the tomb of Skallagrímur (Egil's father)can be found.
The town also has a small museum with two parts: one dedicated to the Settlement of Iceland and the second one carefully portraing Egil's saga.

On our third day in iceland we made a trip around Snaefellsnes. This is a peninsula with an vulcano on it. There are just a few cottages on it and the rest is only nature. green fields with lava on it. Rugged mountains, snowfields and on it`s end a nice little kaffihuis.
