Border crossing with Bosnia and Herzegovina Jul 23, 2017
There are several border crossings between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Dubrovnik- Neretva County in Croatia. Those important for coming to Dubrovnik are Border crossing Doljani with Border crossing Neum 1 and Border crossing Neum 2, if you are arriving from Mostar. This will take you a lot of precious time, so many travelers search for an alternative passage.

Another much closer to Dubrovnik over Trebinje is Border crossing Ivanica in Bosnia and Herzegovina, or Border crossing Brgat Gornji in Croatia. This one is still in construction. The new border crossing will have several lanes for entrance and exit and even a lane just for trade. The border crossing will be entirely compliant with the standards of the European Union.

These days you will wait from 2-4 hours to pass it as the car lines are too long. This is specially problematic in summer when it is too hot here. Mostly tourists from Greece, Hungary and Montenegro in busses or private cars will choose it after visiting the most southern part of Bosnia.

When you are passing this border, just under the border crossing, you'll see the remains of narrow-gauge railway with a railway tunnel that once connected Herceg Novi with ńĆapljina in Bosnia, over Dubrovnik.

I believe, but am not totally sure about it, that the Austro-Hungarians built a series of narrow-gauge railways in this part of the former Yugoslavia
