Boracay for 3 Days & 2 Nights! May 18, 2008
BORACAY FOR 3 DAYS & 2 NIGHTS

ARRIVAL

From Caticlan Airport, take a tricycle (P20) to Jetty port (2 mins. away). Pay terminal fees (P50 environmental, P20 ferry). Take Ferry to Boracay Island. Only one entry point which is Cagban port. Upon reaching Boracay island, take Tricycle (P100) or Multi Cab to your hotel’s station.

Here are our suggestions for your 3D2N stay in Boracay…

FIRST DAY

Confirm your departure booking at airline ofc, (asian Spirit & Seair within D'mall, other airlines at Tourist Center at Station2).

Boating in the Morning

"Boating" (P2000 for round-trip), early in the morning (8/9am), bring bread (buy from bakery near our place) for fish feeding & snorkeling. Bring waterproof bags, or big plastic bags/Ziploc bags for your personal items i.e. cellphones, shades, wallet. Snorkels can be rented for P50 each, so just bring from home if you have them. Ask the boatman to take you to these key places:

* Crocodile Island for snorkeling and fish feeding (if not too wavy).

* Tell boatman you'll have lunch at Puka Beach, there are restaurants that serve grilled & native dishes a few steps away at the back of the beach. Very good, reasonably-priced meals P100up.

* Ilig-iligan beach (Bat-Cave, Crystal Cave).

* Bulabog Beach (where you can see Windsurfers, if there's time).

* Stop by Diniwid beach (look for Manny Pacquiao's resort & go up Nami's cliff resort w/ d only full-view elevator, you don't have to eat there, just tell them you want to look at the menu or the room rates, but you can reserve if you want to have lunch there next day, or quick cocktails right there to relax.)

For Merienda/Sunset

You can tell boatman to drop you off at the "Grotto" at station 1 for picture taking, try Jony's famous shakes nearby, (Chillout @ Jony’s for cocktails & ice cold beer) and chillout as you watch Boracay’s soothing sunset while the kids are trying out “skimboarding” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skimboarding), just remind the kids to “roll” & not to use their hands to break their fall to avoid injury.

For Early Dinner

You can try Island Chicken Inasal, (the only one with the famous chicken oil sauce), also near Jony's.

* Cocktails/beer at Paraw's or Gilly's also at station 1.

Late Night Out

Try D'mall restaurants: Hobbit House (filipino food), Gastoff's (grilled, beach front), Aria's (pizza, beach-front), Jammers (burger), Smokes (at the back of older part of D'mall for cheap good meals). Lemon Cafe, Zyma (gourmet food), finally The Tides, rooftop, near D'mall fountain for nightcap drinks.

SECOND DAY

* Breakfast or just coffee at "Real Coffee" going towards station 1.

* Enjoy the beach, walk towards station 2 & 3 to scout cheap Buffets at any of the beachfront restaurants or resorts for lunch or dinner (from P150 up, prices posted outside)

* Relax on the beach, picture-taking, beach -massage (P350)

* Lunch (or Dinner) "Paluto" at "Talipapa", station 3, Souvenir shopping at Talipapa or D'mall (same price for trinkets etc.). Get I LUV BORA / BORA-CAY souvenir t-shirts ONLY found at L'Air Boutique (P699), other boracay souvenir t-shirts can be found anywhere, even at SM or Island souvenirs manila.

* For the kids,in the afternoon Wall-Climbing at D'Mall fountain area (P40/50). Or go to Mt. Luho, tricycle ride in the middle of Boracay, or ATV-ride (500up)around boracay inland.

* Banana boat or Jet-skiing at any beachfront, ask any local person where to get one.

* Merienda at Mañana's mexican food, going towards station 1 (a bit costly, but Nacho's are the best, P100 and Banana shake are the biggest), or try Boracay's budget snack, the "Longga- Burger", ask around gilid-gilid (walk path), just a stall, going to station 2, grilled squid & bbq also offered.

* More dinner buffets offered along station 2 or 3 for a different atmosphere or Talipapa.

* Hi-end dinners at Zuzuni greek food, Lemon Café (Continental), True Food (Indian), Nami (continental Filipino), Discovery Suites (station 1), Dos Mestizos (Spanish, famous for their paella, tapas & sangria. They have buffet tapas on Saturdays, but be early for the place gets easily packed by dinner time).

* Bar-hopping at Bom-Bom's for reggae/rasta music & cheap drinks, or Hey Jude's bar, just at the front of D'mall, big-crowd dancing at Gilly's, Paraw.

THIRD DAY

* Breakfast at Paradiso restaurant (ocean view) or at Yellow Cafe.

* Enjoy your last swim

* Lunch at Mañana (walk towards boat station 1). Try their sizzling dishes! The best in the island.

EXTRA TIPS:

* Bring sunblock, but most necessities available at Budget Mart or other Sari-Sari stores in the island.
* Take motion-sickness meds for boat/plane ride
* Bring Ziplocs/plastics for laundry/food
* Cellphone waterproof holders avlble at L'air boutique
* Boracay water is potable, but buy bottled water if you have a sensitive stomach.
* Most establishments accept Cash only, so ask before you sit-down in a restaurant or purchase items if credit Cards are accepted.
* Do not leave valuables on tables, chairs while outside, a lot of pickpockets during the summer season in Bora.
* To extend or change airline schedule, you must do this before 12noon the day before your departure or 24 hours before your time of departure.

  My original plan was really to stay in Boracay for about 5 days, because I’d never been there for more than 3. Now I’d arranged it that I would only be there for practically just 3 nights and 2 whole days. Many years ago, Boracay was my first experience of a white beach ever. I ended… Boracay Blues
