Boot & Saddle - Boot & Saddle - terrific live music venue on Broad Street in Philly!
Boot & Saddle - Watching Hemming perform at Boot & Saddle (she was warm-up, but I liked her as much, if not better, than Strand of Oaks, the headliner)
Boot & Saddle - A nice selection of local brews are offered.
Boot & Saddle - The back room where musicians perform is SRO (you need to scoot out front to get another beer)

Rounding up good music Dec 10, 2017
At the end of the day the Boot & Saddle is a bar, but clearly their raison d'etre is live music. The establishment consists of two rooms: a standard bar with some table seating up front and a back room for musical performances. There is a door between these as they charge admission for performances. Décor of the bar is fun but indistinct: the architecture is vintage ‘roaring 20’s’, complete with tin ceiling, but they have rounded up a ton of Wild West ornaments to hang on these old walls, creating conflicting themes (not unattractive, just confusing).

The back room is the concert hall, just a small square and it is important to bear in mind performances are standing room only. Despite a near capacity crowd tonight it was not unbearable and my fingers are crossed this was a 'sold out' event, implying they do not pack folks in like sardines. I found it interesting there was no “back door” to the stage and both performers had to wade through the crowd before and after playing – the fun part of this is they both hung out in the bar, happily interacting with fans.

A fair range of craft draft beers are offered. Mark and I sampled several varieties during our evening of music and most were pretty darn good. They also serve food, but the menu is limited: mostly appetizers with a handful of entrees, leading us to conclude folks do not come here for eats (we considered having dinner here, but punted and went to a next door diner after reviewing the menu).

Boot & Saddle has a fun atmosphere, though I presume folks primarily come here to enjoy music performances. Looked up their web site so I could add it to the TB profile and was tickled to see the following FAQ:

Can I get in for free?

Maybe, but what are you going to do for us? Relationships are a two-way street. We offer free admission if you were on any of the Phillies, 76ers, Flyers, or Eagles championship rosters.

Remember I went here several weeks before the 2018 Super Bowl – so now in addition to the music you might want to drop in and meet some local football players!
