Boonsiri Guesthouse Phimai Reviews
Boonsiri Guesthouse May 11, 2013
Front of this place did not promise much. Tucked between hardware stores but with pretty large square sign that calls the name Boonsiri Guesthouse pretty well, this ¬house is not that hard to find. It is located only 50m from the gates of the Phimai’s Historical Park which is usually the sole reason for people to go to these parts of Thailand. I got to this city just to change scenery a bit. I know that there is never enough of the good beach and sea, but sometimes, just sometimes I like to go inland and enjoy old cities and cultural spots. Well, I went there with local bus and driver was nice enough to tell me where is the best place to exit so I ended up in the center of the town. Town is very small, and mostly confined between the walls of the old Phimai city.
Highly retorted temple is what is now days called Phimai Historical Park, and it is in kind of central location, just a bit off the main square. Main square is important place due to night food market with lots of goodies to try… Bus station is located just a bit outside of the town and I was glad that driver boss man let me out before :) (thank you boss)
Guesthouse entrance looks like through the kitchen and working area and then you get to three beautiful dogs laying around. If you pass that obstacle you are close to the reception where another small dog is waiting for you. That one is the toughest one to pass and it looks at you like you are food or something…
I took dorm room for 150b which is good standard price. Guest house surprisingly did not work well, and there was only three guests on two floors. Second floor has lots of rooms and super nice relaxed terrace. Third floor also features rooms here and there and this large dorm that was super specious with single beds and huge lockers where you could leave your stuff in. Restroom is in the room and it is very clean and well maintained. There is WiFi in the house, but you’ll have to pay for it. And you will have to pay a bit steep price that is not really common thing in Thailand or as a matter of fact this was the first guest house that requested that. Don’t worry because there is small coffee shop just a stroll away that features great coffee, good internet and the great view of the historical park.
I really liked the accommodation but I stayed only one day because there is no to much to do in this place… Historical Park is super touristy and if you have seen any Cambodian Khmer temple, this one is going to be just average thing for you. They also feature good museum and you’ll have to give away 100b for tickets each time. I would give 5 star to the accommodation, but they don’t have internet for free :P
