Growing up I remember stories of the Bonneville Salt Flats and people who went out there to set the land speed records.  This was a legendary place.  Full of excitement, speed, danger, and oh yeah plenty of hard white salt.   I always wondered if I would ever get the chance to get out and drive my car over the desert at breakneck speeds with a long white scarf around my neck flapping in the heavy breeze at speeds greater than I had ever imagined.   So now that I am old…

We stopped about 100 miles outside Salt Lake City at a rest stop next to the Bonneville Salt Flats.  It was about 100 degrees, but it wasn't humid at all and there was a light wind so it really didn't feel that bad.  It was strange becuase when you look at the flat it sort of looks like snow, but when you walk out onto it, its hot.  It was pretty picturesque with the mountains in the background.  We only hung around to get several shots before we got back on the road.…
