Bongo Ben's Island Cafe Kailua Kona Reviews
Restaurant with a view... Jun 17, 2009
We were greeted by a friendly waitress who was going to set us at a table in the back of the restaurant. I asked if she would mind if we sat at the bar facing the road and sea. She was very pleasant about my request and seated us quickly. She brought menus. I ordered a Mai Tai. I had understood it was $4 because it was happy hour but the bill said $4.95... way too much. David ordered a beer: Kona Brewing company: Fire Rock. He really liked it and we decided to visit the factory later.
I ordered the Hula Chicken at $8.95. When it came it had a huge piece of breast meat... not just a little slice like a lot of them. I was really pleased with it and with the plate in general.
David ordered the BBQ pork sandwich at $9.95. It was really good and came on the same plate as the salad...
All in all it was a very good meal. The waitress was friendly and came back several times to check us. She brought the dessert plate to tempt us but alas we had already eaten too much. We will go back and would recommend this cute restaurant to others.
