Bon Ton Resort and Temple Tree, Langkawi Reviews
Bon Ton Resort and Temple Tree Jun 06, 2009
I had the chance to have tea at Bon Ton's beautiful restaurant - part of its resort which is situated in the middle of a padi field. Although not near a beach, Bon Ton has made up for it by having its own pool, personalised service and decor you'll fall in love with.
The owner Narelle, an Australian has passionately decorated it to make it stand out in terms of being different fom other resorts yet blends in so finely with the surroundings. She has bought old traditional buildings from other parts of Malaysia and reassembled them in Langkawi.
Temple Tree is an extension of her older Bon Ton and seems more colourful and not so traditional yet so Malaysian!
The room rates are priced above average - its definitely not a place for budget travellers but I'd recommend it for honey mooners or just for that one splurge to pamper yourself. At the Temple Tree, the Black and White House goes for around US300 per night (sigh!)...but comes with your own gym/exercise equipment! The cheapest house/room would set you back by USD 150 and includes breakfast.
It also houses a cattery - a sanctuary for 300 cats but don't worry feline haters, they are housed far away..so there's no smell or accidentally stepping on booby traps!
I had ginger/pineapple tea which was superb and cost around US 2.50. The desserts include tiramisus and puddings - it would set you back by around US 8.00. A bit steep by Malaysian standards but the ambience more than makes up for it!
Being in Bon Ton/Temple Tree was definitely the highlight of my trip to Langkawi!
