Na een nachtelijke busreis vanuit Salta kwam ik sochtend vroeg aan in La Cuiaca, nog Argentinie. Vanuit daar ben ik letterlijk de grens overgelopen naar Bolivia, alwaar alles in een klap anders is.
Tevergeefs heb ik gezocht naar een trein richting Uyuni, vanwege de hevige regen reed de trein niet. Wel ging er een bus richting Tupiza en met flinke haast was het toch mogelijk om plaats te nemen in de propvolle bus. Dit was wel even iets anders dan de gebruikelijke luxe tourbuss…

There are two parts of the day for residents on Taquile Island. One part is the tranquil way of life - fishing, farming, providing for family and community alike; the other is what I would call the 'crazy time' between 12noon and 2pm everyday when numerous boat loads of tourists dock at one port/jetty, race to whichever of the 'local restaurants' their tour company has organised for lunch, enjoy a meal of fresh fish, salad and chips, and then race to the other port/jetty to leave. 1st Jun, Crossed the Bolivian border with the Great Danes (Niels and Tasja) who I met in Tilcara.. . Bussed to Tupiza that afternoon - not the same comfort we'd become accostomed to in Argentina but we made it in time to hook up a tour to the salt plains of Uyuni leaving the next morning.

La Paz - del 5 al 11 març - La veritat és que la Paz m'ha sorprés positivament, m'ha agradat bastan i tampoc m'ha semblat tan "insegura" com havia llegit a algun lloc. Bueno la veritat és que jo només m'he mogut practicament pel centre, pel carrer principal que baixa des d'Av. Montes i va canviant de nom i els carrers del voltant, tan la plaça on hi ha "l'ajuntament" com els altres mercadillos del costat. La Paz està així com distribuida en dues valls i sorprenenment la zona…

So we get to La Paz, Bolivia and find a hostel. We then go for a wander round a few travel agencies to sort out a few things. Have a couple of drinks at the hostel before venturing out for our first steak dinner in 2 months!!!! We then hit a few bars and one leads to another and the next thing you know it´s 4am and I´m back at the hostel and Muss has the key, ace!!!

Just got back from traveling for a month in Bolivia (Mar-Aor 2007). Looking for travel mates for another trip there from mid-Aug to mid-Sept.
