"Les bois! Les bois!" exclaimed the French-Canadian trappers when they first explored the area after crossing the arid desert plains and saw the lush arboreal feast of trees along the Boise River. Indeed, when your own eyes gaze upon the green gem that is the city of Boise (pronounced boy-see), you'll be shouting "the trees!" too!

Located along the Boise River and nestled against foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the city offers many outdoor activities to local residents, from skiing 30 minutes away at Bogus Basin Ski Resort to biking on the Boise River Greenbelt to boating at nearby reservoirs. The Boise area has it all - desert, rivers, mountains and lakes for hiking, camping, rock climbing, kayaking, river rafting, hunting and fishing.

Downtown Boise is a clean, thriving, and vibrant hot spot, complete with a symphony orchestra, zoo, historic Egyptian theater, multiple museums, a university, opera and ballet companies, and some of the best-maintained parks in the country.

Well, I'm all packed and ready to go, we'll see you on the other side.  I had my qualms about only taking carry-on luggage for my 3.5-month adventure, but everything that I needed fits and now we'll see how much better "traveling light" is.  I fly to Salt Lake, then NYC, then finally London.  Hope these little jet lag pills work!

Wow. That break went fast, didn't it?? I can't believe it's already gone, and I'm back to school. Then in another few weeks, a month off! I can't wait to do nothing. I should get a job. But I haven't even attempted to look for one yet, so I probably won't have one. Anyways! So I'll get caugh up on what I did during the break. I really didn't do anything up until Thanksgiving Day. Me and my parents left at 7:30 a.m. to head up to Joseph Thursday morning, picked up my sister who stayed the nigh...

I went for a concert, and got to visit my friends for a quick weekend. They drove me around town the day after the concert. We were all very much hung over so I didn't get many pictures!

Beginnings of summer
posted by:
May 19, 2008
After finishing the semester, I had high hopes for getting a summer job, earn some money, stay busy for the summer. I filled out numerous applications, had a few interviews, but nothing stuck. Fast forward to the beginning of June, still no job! As it turns out, my cousin needed help remodeling her house(new paint on the inside, moulding, carpet). So after having no luck finding a 'real' job, I agreed to help her out. In return she fed me every day and even gave me about $250(she was family, ...
