Bohol Divers Resort Panglao Reviews
For All Walks of Life Jan 17, 2009
Finding a budget hostel in Panglao was difficult. Though we found some, most of them were not beachfront.
We booked at Bohol Divers Resort, just one of the many resorts found along the world famous Alona Beach.
The resort is huge! And beautiful!
There’s a pool, restaurant and a beachfront bar! And for diving enthusiasts, a dive shop well equipped with diving facilities.
They cater to the middle-to-upper class with their villa and chalet units, and also to those budget conscious, the lower class, (that’s us) with their superior and economy cottages.
The prices for their villa and chalet unit are found on their website. We learned about their economy rooms via this site: http://www.tubbataha.com/bohol/boholdivers/default.asp
For the Superior Rooms, it’s Php 800 for 2, maximum of 4 (Php 100 for extra person).
For the Economy Rooms, it’s Php 600 good for 2 only.
We got the economy rooms with two single beds, a fan, and a private toilet and bath. Small, but enough. For a budget room, they provided basic toiletries and clean towels. We stayed there for two nights, and for our second day, they even fixed our beds, provided new clean towels and again toiletries, consisting of soap and tissue paper (at least)!
But here’s the catch, the upper class units are located near the front gate, in the garden and beach front, whereas the economy rooms were at the back! It’s at the back of the reception area but to get there, one had to go down to the beach, walk pass the dive shops and climb up again. The resort is beachfront but the rooms weren’t. :)
And the worse part of it, they don’t have telephones for the front desk so if you need anything, you have to go down and up again be able to personally talk to them. And they don’t do room service either. I think that’s just the downside. But for Php 600 at Alona Beach, that’s cheap.
For the restaurant, we didn’t eat there so I cannot comment but the prices are the same with most of the restaurants along Alona, around Php 150 for a seat meal per pax.
The staff were great too -- friendly, except for one waitress at the restaurant, but all were all-smiles always.
And another reason why I like this resort is that they did not ask for a deposit when we booked online!
