Great way to see Bogota! May 26, 2011
I went on Bogota Bike Tours my first day in town and the five-hour tour was a great way to learn about and familiarize myself with Bogota! The traffic-choked streets and bustling pedestrian areas were a crazy setting to ride a bike for the first time in 15 years but I did just fine. Mike was a great tour guide and a wealth of information. Among the neighborhoods and sites we visited were La Candelaria, Plaza de Bolivar, Plaza del Chorro, Bogota's Red Light District, Central Cemetery, Centro Internacional, and Macarena. During a rain delay, we went to a cool coffee shop and a place where we played Tejo -- a popular Colombian sport where you throw a weight at a gunpowder-laced target to try and make it explode. We also stopped at a fruit market and sampled many delicious fruits and visited the bullfighting stadium. Bogota Bike Tours must be relatively new since it isn't even mentioned in Lonely Planet's most recent Colombia edition. But judging by all the great trip advisor reviews and my own positive experience, Mike has filled a huge void by starting this business. If you do nothing else while in Bogota, go on this tour -- it was the highlight of my trip and you won't find a better way to see the city!

A great way to see Bogota! May 24, 2011
I went on this bike tour during a short trip to Bogota. After having done bike tours in other cities, I was excited to find out there was one in Bogota. It really is a great and unusual way to see a new city. My partner and I were the only two on the tour the day we went, and Mike, the guide, said it happened to be the low season. It was also mid week. We started at the bike shop in La Candelaria, where some assistants at the shop provided us with a bike, helmet, and leg strap, and made sure everything was ok. Mike came right when the tour was to start, and we quickly left the shop and headed into traffic. We went to a really good fruit market where we tried a bunch of local Colombian fruit. After that we checked out a ton of different sites, went to a local coffee factory, the bullfighting ring, played tejo to get out of the rain, stopped at the central cemetery to walk around, and made our way back to the shop via Los Andes University, and back through Plaza del Chorro. Mike is an awesome tour guide. He has spent a number of years living in Bogota and is full of information. He knew the answers to all of our questions, and really did a great job at navigating us around the city. He has formed relationships throughout his time there with all the vendors we stopped at, so I really felt like we got the real experience out of each place. This is a must for any visit to Bogota, short or long, first time or tenth time.

Bogota Bike Tours Nov 03, 2009
This was a fun way to see Bogota. We saw several parks, universities, historical sites and neighborhoods - including some of the 'bad' parts of the city. The guide was quite interesting and informative and we learned quite a bit about the country's history and politics. The bicycles did have a few adjustment problems, and we suffered a bit from the elevation on the uphills. The ride might have been a bit shorter, but we came back tired and well informed, with lots of pictures.
