Bodie Overview

Bodie is the most famous ghosttown of the state California. It's situated in the mountains North-East of Yosemite National Park and North of Mono Lake near the Nevada stateborder. It was an important city during the goldrush in the wild west. Nowadays it's marked as National Historic Landmark and you can visit this town for only 4 dollar entrance. It was quite a big town but only a little village is left now. The houses that are left are, including the interior, in a good condition. To preserve the ghost town atmosphere, there are no facilities such as a restaurant or a gasstation, so the advice is to go with a full cooler and enough petrol. In the museum you can buy a souvenir and there are public restrooms. Smoking is not allowed in the village.
