Delicious Italian restaurant in Lima - La Bodega de la Trattoria May 06, 2010
The family decided to go out for a nice dinner. Choosing where to go wasn't easy. I'm the only foodie who wants to try new things all the time, while the rest of my family prefers the more traditional things. So, we decided to go to a nice Italian place, whose owner is one of the best dessert chefs in town.

They have 3 locations and we picked up the one in Miraflores. It's so difficult to find a parking spot here, but there is valet-parking, how convenient!

The building is an old and elegant restored house, with high ceilings, Italian landscapes pictures on the walls, cozy furniture and even a tree in the middle of the dining area. They also have outdoors tables, but it was a bit chilly.

We ordered a bottle of wine. They didn't have a large selection and it would have been cheaper to bring our own wine, but it was very good. As appetizer we ordered a piadina, which is a flatbread. It was warm and so light, very good choice. Usually for dinner none of us eats much, so we would have small things. Mom and me got salads. I got the Portobello Salad. The portobellos were grilled with cheese, delicious. Mom, got the Veronica Salad which had pears that were so soft they melt in your mouth. Dad will have the Peruvian traditional Corn Cake (pastel de choclo), but it had Sandra's (the chef) touch. It was very good. She used 4 cheeses and the spicy yellow pepper. Delicious! The only one who had pasta was my brother. The gnocchis were very good too.

Well, this place is very famous because of the desserts, so we wouldn't miss the opportunity to try them, hahaha. We decided to split 2 desserts:

Apple Pie for 2: delicious! it wasn't a slice like it is usually served, but an individual container that kept es warm the whole time. Also it had big pieces of apple and on top vanilla ice cream. Yummy!!!!!

Almond's Pie: I looked very good, lots of almonds and fudge covering it. I didn't try it, since I don't eat chocolate. But I saw how much my parents were enjoying it. It also came with ice cream.

This was a very good dinner. I have been here before, but was time to go back. I would suggest people who want an Italian meal to come to this place. Portions are good, waiters are helpful and atmosphere is great, not too casual, but not upscale either. Also their coffee is very good!

Lima Italian Restaurant Jun 19, 2009
I really liked this place. Within walking distance of the J.W. Marriott, the restaurant has a welcoming facade and wide-open dining room flanked by a nice bar and glass-enclosed patio. We chose to sit inside the main dining room as the tables in the patio were cafe style and were very small for party of 4 hungry men. I have a list compliments: The service was timely and professional; The wine list was diverse and fairly priced; cocktails were well prepared and refills were ordered before the bottom of the current one was reached; bread was warm and fresh; appetizers were delicious and presented well; entree sizes were perfect, allowing room for dessert. I had the Osso Bucco, which I tend to do if I can find it on a menu. This particular one ranks among the top 2 I have ever had (it is tied with Lentini's in Louisville, KY). Overall, Trattoria will definitely get repeat business from me.
