Blue Mountains Vacation Guide
The Blue Mountains is famously known for the Three Sisters rock formation which juts out of the land and into your eyes. The name Blue Mountains is not derived from the colour of the rocks on the mountains themselves (although that would be a logical explanation) but from the blue haze which covers the mountains in the mornings, cause by scattering of light.
It is located an hours drive from the centre of Sydney (due west) and can be reached by car or train.
Besides having some of the best trails to hike in and go mountain biking once in the national park. The town itself is quite nice with shops dotted all over the place and plenty of B&Bs to put your feet up.
It was World Heritage Listed in 2000.
