Blue Ridge Parkway

For a short weekend the Blue Ridge Parkway is a great ride. We decided at the last moment to try to drive the southern half of the parkway. The parkway starts only 70 miles outside Washington DC and terminates near Knoxville, TN in the Smokie Mountains. The total distance is 469 miles. I joined some of my family for this relaxing trip to the Blue Ridge mountains in Western North Carolina for July 4th, 2006. We visited scenic Blowing Rock, some waterfalls, and Chimney Rock, with it's gorgeous views.
