Blowering Dam Snowy Mountains Reviews
Snowy Mountains Camping at its greatest Apr 24, 2011
Blowering Dam is a man made dam just at the base of the snowy mountains a couple of hours south west of Australian Capital territory.
If you have a boat, take it, if you have a fishing rod, take it, and be sure to take warm clothes in winter because oh boy does the mercury drop at night in this area of Australia. i am a keen fisherman and i have caught many trout in the snowy mountains, however on this particular trip i didn't get any trout, however i did get 3 small to medium size red fin, but in saying that a bad day fishing beats a good day working.
The way i got there was south down the Hume highway, then got off at the third exit in Gundagai, followed the snowy mountains highway east through tumut, then about 20mins out of tumut still on the snowy mountains highway you will see the dam on your right, also on the right side of the road you will see dirt roads going off down towards the dam, select one of these many roads to take you to one of many free campsites. And that's it!! enjoy
