Searching for châteaux

Day 2 of the château tour took us back to the Blois area.  Our first stop was another extravagant château, Château de Chambord.  This château, huge in size, was built for King François I for use as a hunting lodge.  A lodge, are you kidding me?  This is by far the largest château in the Loire Valley!  Although is it not certain who designed it, the king's good friend Leonardo Da Vinci stopped by at some point and added some embellishments to the castle.  Th...

The Little Town of Blois

The town of Blois is touristy based on the branded shops scattered around the small town. The most popular attraction of course is the Château de Blois.  We rushed through our lunch at 3pm at a nice petite café beside the château fearing that we will not be able to explore well the place as it closes at 6pm. After all, the guide books says we should allot 2~3 hours per château. We must be some kind of super genius as we were able to see the whole place in a little over 1 hour, ...

I have many more to add from various trips but this is a start. I highly recommend taking a train to Blois because there are castles everywhere and this is just one of them.

We have been having a magical time exploring the Loire Valley. It's famous for it's castles and if we had the time, I'd love to see them all.. We have picked the most popular. We based ourselves in Blois (Ble-wha) for two days. We went to a Magic Museum and watched some shows there. Blois is a cute place with a magnificently furnished chateau.
