Blenheim Palace Day Trip Jan 14, 2017
Although you can do day trips to places like London, Blenheim Palace is the most typical day trip from Oxford. The palace is known as the only non-Royal/non-Episcopal Palace in Britain as well as Winston Churchill's ancestral home and birthplace. Built in the early 18th century, it is one of very few examples of English Baroque.

It is one of the most magnificent buildings in Britain and an UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987. There is a wide outside area to visit., inside there are three large areas to visit: The two palace wings (with exhibitions about the palace itself and Winston Churchilll respectively) as well as the stables where temporary exhibitions are located.

Calculate to spend a full day there and finish the day with a pint or a meal in the village Pub of Bladon, close to where Winston Churchill was buried (see Bladon tips). To get to Blenheim Palace, there is the S3 bus line running every 30 minutes from Oxford Railway Station. For more details about the palace, please check out my Woodstock page.
