Blankenstein Hattingen Reviews
Overlooking Ruhr Valley Aug 11, 2015
Blankenstein, since 1970 a suburb of Hattingen, is a small town that offers a splendid view over Ruhr valley. The main tower of Blankenstein Castle enables splendid photos of the town of Blankenstein, Ruhr river and the southern suburbs of Bochum. Climbing the tower is free during summer season (closed during winter), there is also a restaurant within the castle.
The town itself is small, and rather suited for a photo stopover than for a daytrip. However, there are some cafés and restaurants which enable to stay for more than an hour.
Bus route SB 32 connects Blankenstein with Bochum Central Station and Hattingen. There is a small parking lot which is often full during peak season.
