Black & White Lisbon Hostel Reviews
Quality Hostel with awkward silences May 02, 2011
My only one peeve while staying at this hostel was that some of the guests were on the snobby side.
Perhaps they weren’t used to socializing with other travelers because the majority of guests were in groups of three or four including two or three groups from Poland and another from my own country of Canada.
After 3 months of travel I never encountered more awkward silences with more people than at this hostel... it was really weird as most other hostels I’ve been to were usually full of (at least some) friendly small talk between each other.
This kitchen has everything you’ll need, but it isn’t very big and it gets a little crowded at dinnertime. Again, there were people trying to cook in close proximity to each other but no chit-chat, which I found to be a tad awkward even after the one word answers I got after trying to break the tension.
+As for the hostel itself, it’s good to go. The staff played some decent music which sets a comfortable mood for the place and the computers were free to use.
They advertise this hostel as the cheapest in Lisbon and at 17 Euros per night they must be right!
The location was decent but there are busses running just outside so getting downtown is easy if you don’t want to walk for 10-15 minutes to the city center.
