Black Horn Bar & Kitchen Carolina Beach Reviews
Black Horn Bar & Kitchen Jun 04, 2010
Carolina Beach is just the most happening little beach town, and since my wife and daughter abandoned me tonight (they are off to Raleigh to spend the night with my stepson and daughter-in-law, who works at Macy’s and scored tickets for them to see some dude at the store tomorrow who headlines this TV show about dressing poorly…can’t recall the guy’s name or the name of the show), I decided I should go on a field trip!
Went to the Black Horn Bar & Kitchen for dinner, a pub located in the small boardwalk area of Carolina Beach. Black Horn aspires to be something classy, and the interior is tasteful, almost entirely wooden with rich tones. Alas, they have a ‘sports bar’ theme and the clientele usually consists of tourists looking to get hammered, so the atmosphere gets compromised. If you are here on vacation, however, it is a good choice to relax and get a decent bite to eat.
Entertainment is always on tap beside the beer, and there has to be at least twenty high def TV’s perched throughout (several booths have a screen of their very own), with most tuned to sports channels. A pleasant feature is that there are two bar areas – a smaller one is separated from the main area for smokers. They feature live music on the weekends, though we only get here during daylight hours so I can’t comment on the quality.
My dinner this evening was a surprisingly tasty soup du jour, a cold ginger thai, followed by a fajita steak salad. Though not fine dining by any stretch, it was easily a value for the reasonable prices. A fun choice if you are hanging in this groovy little sand spot!
