Good hostel near center of Antigua Jul 11, 2009
Somewhat typical hostel for a city, with a pretty cool layout, especially if you get a room on the upper floor. There are lots of people around but they close the bar at 10 so it's not too loud late at night. Good place to meet people. I was very impressed by the huge free breakfasts! They're really tasty and if you're like me, you won't be hungry again til dinner so you don't have to spend money on a big lunch. :-)

Stayed here for one night. Great atmosphere. Comparable to Jungle Party.....for hostel options...You have 3 main options....Jungle Party, Black Cat, or UmmaGumma. It's all good fun. Just go in and see..have a drink or two...see what vibe you like better.....CHAO!!

Then checked into Black Cat hostel. Met room mates Serena, Graham, Toby and Julia, most of whom were getting up at 4am the next morning. Went out to party until way too late. Having arrived safely in Antigua, checking in to the Black Cat Hostel and wondering around town for the rest of the afternoon, an early night was needed on day one. We woke to an included breakfast that could keep you going until almost dinner! Breakfast burrito is all I'll say... except… Antigua and the Pacaya Volcano |

…gringofied antigua listening to my ipod i was wondering when my old pal of about 2 wks nelson was gonna show up at the black cat hostel but knowing we were in guatemala i knew that the intail arrival time of about 10am could mean i would be happy if he rocked up that day at all. upon returning to the hostel and having a quick look… The things you do to cook marshmellows |

…differences, we made peace with our first city away from the lake, watched Sister Act (thank you, whoopi), made some interesting friends and ate some free breakfast at the Black Cat hostel.
