Great cocktails in a dark Parisian bar Aug 25, 2008
Everybody hangs out in the Latin Quarter in Paris, but this little bistrot is off the beaten path. I almost hesitate to recommend it in the fear that it won't stay that way, nevertheless I trust you TravBuddy travelers to cherish its cozy intimacy and to avoid turning it into a touristy hovel.
At first glance this bar is nothing special. What makes it fantastic are the first rate cocktails. There are pages and pages in their menu describing rum, gin, vodka, and tequila cocktails..fruity and sweet or tangy and tart, they're all delicious. You can get beer or wine here (of course) but definitely try a mixed drink. The atmosphere is dark (and it used to be smokey)and cozy, the bartenders are friendly, and you'll most likely see a mix of hippie looking guitar players and groupies or intellectual looking students. On Mondays it's Happy Hour prices all night, and there's often some sort of live music. You can also book the entire place for a private party--free of charge! Enjoy the drinks and the atmosphere, but be quiet when you step outside to smoke...you don't want the neighbors to complain! :)
